Moonrise

The short version

• Moonrise reads your sleep data from Apple Health with your permission, and writes back only the sleep entries you add by hand.
• All analysis, including sleep scores, sleep debt, habit correlations, and reports, happens on your device.
• We operate no servers, no accounts, no analytics, no ads, and no trackers. Your data is never transmitted to us or anyone else.
• The only way data leaves your device is when you export it as a CSV or share it.

Information we access

Apple Health (HealthKit) sleep data. With your explicit permission, Moonrise reads sleep analysis data, including time asleep, in bed, and sleep stages, recorded by your iPhone, Apple Watch, or other devices that write to Apple Health. Moonrise reads this data for analysis. The only thing it ever writes to Apple Health is a sleep entry you create manually in the app; nothing derived, and nothing else. We never use HealthKit data for advertising or marketing, and we never share it with third parties, as required by Apple's guidelines and our own policy.

Data you enter in the app. Your sleep schedule, sleep-need setting, nightly habit tags, for example caffeine, exercise, screens, a late meal, or a nap, and how rested you feel. This exists so the app can compute your scores, sleep debt, and personal patterns.

Alarms

Moonrise's wake alarm and smart-wake feature are scheduled directly on your device with Apple's AlarmKit. This is entirely local: your alarm time and wake window never leave your device, are not sent to us, and are not used for anything other than waking you up.

Where your data lives

Everything is stored locally on your device in the app's private storage (and, if you use the Moonrise watch app, synced directly between your own devices). We cannot see it, access it, or recover it. It is yours.

Deleting your data: deleting the app deletes the data Moonrise stores. Your underlying Apple Health records remain in Apple Health under your control, and you can revoke Moonrise's Health access at any time in Settings, Privacy & Security, Health.

What we do NOT do

• No accounts or sign-in. We do not know who you are.
• No analytics, crash-reporting, or advertising SDKs.
• No tracking across apps or websites. Moonrise does not use the IDFA.
• No selling, sharing, or transmitting of your personal data. We never receive it in the first place.

Purchases

Moonrise Premium is offered as an auto-renewing subscription or one-time purchase processed by Apple. Payment is handled entirely by the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple's handling of that data is described in Apple's own privacy policy. Manage or cancel any time in Settings, Apple ID, Subscriptions.

Export

You can export your sleep data as a CSV file from Settings at any time. Where you send that file is up to you. Once exported, it is outside the app's control.

Health disclaimer

Moonrise supports wellness awareness. It is not a medical device and provides no medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Sleep scores and sleep-debt figures are estimates. Consult a doctor for any health concern, and never start, stop, or adjust medication based on the app.

Children

Moonrise is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from anyone, including children.

Your regional rights (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA, and similar)

Because Moonrise collects and transmits no personal data, the rights these laws grant, including access, correction, deletion, portability, and opt-out of sale, are satisfied by design: all of your data is already in your hands, on your device, and is never sold or shared. For any question or request, contact us at the email above and we will respond promptly. EU and UK users additionally have the right to lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority.

Changes to this policy

If Moonrise's data practices ever change, for example, if we add optional cloud sync, this policy will be updated first, the effective date revised, and material changes highlighted in the app before they apply to you.
