Moonrise

The short version

• Sleep records from Apple Health, sleep schedules, habit entries, sleep scores, and sleep debt are processed and stored on your Apple devices. Moonrise does not send HealthKit or sleep data to Clearforge, RevenueCat, or PostHog. You control any exports or information you choose to send to support.
• Apple processes purchases. If you allow optional purchase reporting, Moonrise sends purchase and subscription information, an anonymous app user ID and technical request information to RevenueCat, including Apple’s vendor device identifier (IDFV).
• In versions with onboarding analytics, you can separately choose to share setup progress with PostHog. This includes which steps you view and complete, a randomly generated identifier, and basic technical information. Your sleep data and onboarding answers are not included.
• Alarms and app-blocking schedules are managed on your device. They are not sent to Clearforge.
• You choose if and where to export or share information from Moonrise.

Information stored on your devices

With your permission, Moonrise reads sleep analysis records from Apple Health, including sleep times and stages, and available overnight heart rate, heart-rate variability, respiratory rate, sleeping wrist temperature and blood oxygen readings. You can also enter sleep sessions, a sleep schedule, sleep-need preferences, habit tags, and how rested you feel. Moonrise uses this information on your device to show sleep summaries, scores, trends, and reports. It may write a sleep session you manually create to Apple Health if you choose that option. HealthKit data is not used for advertising or sent to RevenueCat.

Moonrise stores its app data in private storage on your device and can sync its Watch companion data between your own Apple devices using Apple system services. Clearforge does not operate a Moonrise account or cloud database for your sleep data. Apple device backups and Apple Health synchronization may retain or transfer information according to your Apple settings; these are separate from a Clearforge cloud service.

Purchases and RevenueCat

Apple processes payments for Moonrise Premium subscriptions and lifetime purchases. Moonrise does not receive your payment card details. If you opt in, the app uses RevenueCat to synchronize and report App Store purchase records and subscription status, including existing purchases. RevenueCat is not initialized before this choice is allowed. Apple’s StoreKit verifies access independently; declining optional reporting does not affect purchases, Restore, or existing Premium access. RevenueCat receives purchase history, transaction or receipt information, subscription status and an anonymous app user ID it generates. SDK requests also include Apple’s vendor device identifier (IDFV), device model, operating system, app and SDK versions, preferred languages, App Store country when available, and whether the app is in the background. Network requests necessarily expose an IP address to the receiving service. We disable automatic collection of attribution identifiers as subscriber attributes, but that setting does not remove the SDK’s IDFV request header. We do not use an advertising identifier or configure advertising attribution in the app. We do not provide RevenueCat with your name, email address, HealthKit data, sleep records, sleep scores, habit entries, or alarm schedules. We use the RevenueCat dashboard to view purchase and subscription events. RevenueCat processes end-user purchase data for us under its service terms and Data Processing Addendum. Deleting Moonrise does not delete App Store purchase records or records already held by RevenueCat. Records already shared may continue to reflect subscription changes processed by Apple and RevenueCat; disabling reporting in Moonrise is not a deletion request. Contact us below with a privacy request about RevenueCat data associated with your installation.

You can change this choice in Settings → Health & data → Purchase reporting. Turning it off stops Moonrise from scheduling further reports. If RevenueCat has already started during that app session, close Moonrise completely and reopen it to fully stop the SDK; requests may continue until it closes. Turning reporting off does not erase information already shared. Contact us for help requesting deletion. We store your choice and the date of that choice on your device.

Usage analytics, advertising, and tracking

In versions that include onboarding analytics, Moonrise uses PostHog's US-hosted service only after you explicitly allow sharing in "Help improve Moonrise," after the two welcome screens, or in Settings → Health & data → Share onboarding analytics. This choice is separate from Health access and RevenueCat purchase reporting. Declining does not affect setup, features, prices, purchases, or Premium access. Versions without this integration, or builds where analytics is not configured, do not send these events.

We use a limited set of events to understand where setup is confusing or unfinished: onboarding started, a setup step viewed or completed, and onboarding completed. A step event includes a fixed step name, not your answers or field values. We do not backfill steps from before your permission. These events do not include HealthKit records, sleep values or times, scores, schedules, habit entries, onboarding answers, your name, or your email.

PostHog generates a random identifier so events from an installation can be grouped. This is pseudonymous information, rather than a promise of complete anonymity. Event requests can include timestamps, session identifiers, app and SDK versions, device model, operating system, locale, screen size and network context. The service also receives your IP address when a request reaches it. Moonrise does not use your name, email address, Apple Health identifiers, or advertising identifier to identify you in PostHog. Automatic screen and tap capture, session replay, automatic error reporting, surveys, advertising, and cross-app tracking are disabled. See PostHog's Privacy Policy and Data Processing Agreement.

You can turn sharing off in Settings → Health & data → Share onboarding analytics. This stops new event capture. Events already queued or requests in progress may still be delivered; turning sharing off does not delete events already received by PostHog. Your choice is stored on your device. Contact privacy@clearforgesoftware.com to request help with access or deletion of previously shared analytics information. We may need information to locate the relevant pseudonymous records.

Alarms and app blocking

Wake alarms, wind-down schedules, and app-blocking schedules are managed by Apple frameworks on your device. Clearforge does not receive those schedules or the list of apps you choose to block.

Notifications, widgets, and Watch

If you enable notifications, Moonrise schedules local reminders and sleep updates using Apple’s notification services on your device. Notification previews, widgets, Live Activities, and Watch screens may display sleep summaries or schedule information on your Apple devices. Control these surfaces and notification previews in Moonrise and your Apple device settings. Moonrise does not operate a remote push-notification server for these features.

Support and feedback

Feedback drafts stay on your device until you choose to send or share them. If you email support, we receive your sending email address, message and any reply contact you provide. You may choose to include the app version, build number and iOS version. Contextual feedback may name the screen or feature you are asking about. Moonrise does not automatically attach sleep records, screenshots or diagnostic logs. Any information you add yourself is included in the message you review before sending. We use support correspondence to respond to your request; your email provider also processes the message under its own privacy practices.

Sharing and export

You can export sleep information as a CSV or create a sleep-score image to share. These actions are initiated by you. Information you send through another app or service is then handled under that service’s privacy practices.

Retention and deletion

Moonrise app data remains on your device until you delete it or remove the app. Removing Moonrise does not remove sleep records stored in Apple Health; manage those records and Moonrise’s Health permissions in Apple Health and your device settings. App removal does not necessarily remove copies in your device backups, exported files, shared images, support messages or paired devices. Apple retains purchase records under its policies and legal requirements. RevenueCat processes records already shared with it under our service agreement; contact us to request help accessing or deleting them. PostHog may retain previously received events according to our project retention settings and service agreement; contact us for access or deletion requests. We retain support correspondence as needed to respond to requests and meet applicable legal obligations, and you may ask us to delete it. We do not promise that uninstalling the app or withdrawing consent automatically erases previously shared information.

Children

Moonrise is not directed to children under 13, and Clearforge does not knowingly collect personal information from children through Moonrise.

Your privacy choices

You can manage Health access in your device’s Privacy & Security settings, and control or delete Apple Health records in the Health app. Optional onboarding analytics and purchase reporting can be changed separately in Moonrise Settings → Health & data. You may contact us to ask questions or request help with information associated with RevenueCat or PostHog. We will assess and respond to requests under applicable law. You may also have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict certain personal information, or to complain to your local data protection authority.

Changes

We will revise this policy if Moonrise’s data practices materially change and update the effective date above.
